The Inaugural SHA-NEA 3R Awards cum Seminar for Hotels was held on 23 October 2014 (Thursday), 1.45pm to 6.00pm, at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Ms Chew Gek Khim, Chairman of the National Environment Agency.

The SHA-NEA 3R Awards for Hotels was launched to recognise the efforts of hotels, which have performed well in solid waste minimisation and management. This award is an extension of the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Programme for Hotels.

The Award Ceremony was followed by Sharing of 3R Best Practices by Crowne Plaza Changi Airport and Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.

Held in conjunction with the Award Ceremony was a 3R Seminar for Hotels and a mini-exhibition on solid waste minimisation solutions.

The following three papers were shared during the 3R Seminar:

• “Corporate Social Responsibility through Lamp Recycling”

By Ms Carrie Wong, Manager (Planning & Development), National Environment Agency

The event concluded with an enriching mini-tour around Crowne Plaza Changi Airport for seminar participants to view the hotel’s 3R Best Practices.
